Argentine tango is a beautiful, passionate, sophisticated dance that anyone can learn! When you take lessons at Tango by the River, you get experienced, fun, and patient instructors who are dedicated to your success! No partner? No problem! We rotate partners in class and help you find a partner. Couples who don't want to rotate in class are never required to. There is no better introduction to Argentine Tango!
We have three levels of classes that will get you on your way to dancing Argentine Tango socially. In Level I, you learn the fundamentals of Argentine Tango: the basic elements of the tango walk (caminada) and introduction of basic steps, emphasizing posture, leading and following skills, and interpreting the music. Level II teaches forward and backward ochos and how to apply all steps learned so far into the social setting. Level III changes every month, focusing variously on molinette, boleos, barridas, volcadas, etc.
Level I - Beginning Tango -- Saturdays 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Level II - Intermediate Tango -- Saturdays 12:00-1:00 p.m.
Level III - Intermediate/Advanced Tango -- Saturdays 1:00-2:00 p.m.
These classes frequently fill so we strongly recommend pre-registration to ensure your place in class! Click below to sign up and ensure your space!
Saturday classes are taught in a two-month rotation basis with two different sets of instructors. Saturday classes for March and April, 2008, will be taught by Michelle Loughlin and Peter Baldridge. Saturday classes for May and June, 2008, will be taught by Rita Yanson and Paul Wheeler.
Classes are for month paid only; missed classes cannot be "forwarded" to other months. However, you can make up a missed Saturday class in the Tuesday class (in the same month), and vice versa.
