Tango is so much more than some moves or steps. Tango is connection. Tango is connection with your partner. Tango is connection with the music (which is why we play traditional Argentine Tango music -- the same music you will hear at the milongas of Buenos Aires and throughout the world). Tango is connection with the floor itself and, last but not least, Tango is connection with the other dancers on the floor.

In this rather sterile world we live in (where an accidental touch often results in an apology), Tango connects us.

At Tango by the River, we delight in this connection--we teach (in Level III) close embrace tango ... and we invite you to step in, get close, and get connected. We invite you to Tango ...

(No partner? No problem! We rotate partners in class and help you find a partner. Couples who don't want to rotate in class are never required to. There is no better introduction to Argentine Tango!)

We have three classes to get you on your way to dancing Argentine Tango socially. In our beginning class on Tuesday nights, you learn the fundamentals of Argentine Tango: the basic elements of the tango walk (caminada) and introduction of basic steps, emphasizing posture, leading and following skills, and interpreting the music. The intermediate class on Tuesday night focuses on pivots and turns, and how to apply all steps learned so far into the social setting.

The Close Embrace class on Thursday nights (a minimum of 3 months of tango [or instructor okay] is required before moving into the Thursday class) changes every month but always focuses on technique, musicality, and steps appropriate to the social milonga.

Beginning Tango - Tuesdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Intermediate Tango - Tuesdays, 7:30-8:30 p.m.

Close Embrace Tango - Thursdays, 7:00-8:30 p.m.

Tango Practica -- Thursdays, 8:30-9:30 p.m. (not a class but a chance to practice your tango!)

Cost is $50 per person or $90 per couple (you can choose the couple pricing in the checkout).
